SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32

Congratulating Samuel P. Sentelle, Superintendent of Putnam County
Schools, for his selection as one of the nation's recipients
for the "Leadership for Learning Honors" award.
Whereas, Samuel P. Sentelle has worked with dedication and
commitment for thirty-three years in the educational field; and
Whereas, Samuel P. Sentelle developed a comprehensive multi- tier effort known as "Community Vision" to encourage community
involvement in the public schools, the creation of a school-to-work
program that begins in the elementary grades and the development of
individual instructional plans for every student entering high
school; and
Whereas, The efforts of Samuel P. Sentelle contributed to the
Putnam County school district receiving the Governor's Cup for
attaining the highest standardized test scores in West Virginia,
even though Putnam County ranks fifty-third among the state's
fifty-five counties in per-pupil spending; and
Whereas, The National Conference on Education recognized the
outstanding accomplishments of Samuel P. Sentelle by selecting him
as one of three school superintendents in the nation to receive the
prestigious "Leadership for Learning Honor" award; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding
accomplishments of Samuel P. Sentelle, Ssuperintendent of Putnam
County Schools, for his outstanding dedication and commitment to
the educational system, and for his deserving recognition by the
National Conference on Education by selecting him to receive the
prestigious "Leadership for Learning Honor" award; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Samuel P. Sentelle, Ssuperintendent of
Putnam County Schools, and the deserving recipient of the National
Conference on Education's "Leadership for Learning Honor" award.
